Archduke was killed by Gavrilo Princip who was from Serbia. Archduke was from Austria-Hungary. Therefore Archduke's death made Austria-Hungary declare war on Serbia.This caused the war. -
First use of gas as a weapon by the Germans
During the war, the Germans introduced gas as a weapon. The Germans use Mustard Gas which could kill by blistering the lungs and throat if inhaled in large quantities. However, in order for it to cause blisters all over the body it had to soak into their woolen uniforms. -

The sinking of Lusitania occurred on Friday, May 7th 1915. The ship was identified and torpedoed by German U-Boat. It sank in 18 minutes. -

Zimmermann Note
The Zimmermann telegram stated that the Mexicans would attack the U.S from the south as a distraction. So the Germans could attack the British and America wouldn't interfere. Little did Zimmermann know that the note was intercepted by the British, decoded and sent to President Wilson. -
