First use of gas as a weapon by the Germans

The gas could kill or seriously injure anyone who inhaled it. The allies began to use the poison gas as well.

Sinking of the Lusitania

Germany treated to sink any vessels that entered or left British ports. The British passinger ship. This killed over 1,000 people 128 were American.

the Zimmermann Note angered Americans. This also set off a new anti-German feeling in the United States.
