So trench warfare is where both countries build trenches for cover and in the middle it called no mans land. When living in the trenches was hard because people would get sick really fast.

So this was used by the Germans to kill the french. The Gas affected the Nose,Eyes lungs and the throat. The gas made soldiers blind and suffocate. some people really got sick from this gas. So what some people did was make there own gas mask.

So the battle of Somme was a battle fought in France. This battle was a deadly battle and the German lot this rounds. This battle happen because the Germans were mad because Italy joined the allies.

So what the flamethrower was used form was to make a mess of flames so the allies would not see the shots coming in. the other reason was to burn no mans land to get a better view on the allies. it was also used to blind the allies from the German snipers.

So the treaty of Versailles was made after world War 1. So this treaty was made to Punish Germany and made them pay for all the damages of the world.
