Japan Invades China
Japan invaded China in the Second Sino-Japanese War, which started becasue Japan was very imperialistic and wanted to politically dominate China. Japan also wanted China's natural resources, food, and labor. Originally the Japanese gained major victories and eventually captured China's capitol of Nanking but by 1939 this became a stalemate. -
Munich Conference
The Munich Agreement was an agreement letting Nazi Germany to annex a part of Czechoslovakia along the country's borders becuase it was mainly inhabited by German speakers. It was allowed becuase the countries were trying to appease Germany and avoid a war. The document was signed early on September 30, 1938 but was dated September 29. The agreement was signed by Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Italy. -
Non-Aggression Pact
This was an agreement between Germany and Russia (Soviet Union) that said that neither country would attack the other. Germany eventually broke this treaty with Operation Barbarossa when they invaded Russia. This nonaggression pact was a failure for both sides. -
Germany Invades Poland
Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. This officially started World War Two. Germany eventually annexed all of Poland and gained a definite advantage in the war. -
