    The Bell aircraft was a place that made aircrafts for the war and became an big industrial site for the war. They made the B-29 whichwas a superior plane that was used in the war. They were able to use these planes to quickly get back at the Japaneese for the attack on Peral Harbor. Fun Fact:By the end of the war, the factory had produced 668 bombers and was the state’s single largest private employer during World War II, with more than 28,000 workers

  • Savannah Shipyard

    Savannah Shipyard
    The harbor was used as an exportation port for goods such as cotton and rice. FDR said that the US was in an emergency and produced ships,Brunswick was used to construct cargo vessels that would aid Allied forces in Europe.These ships halled tons of cargo across the Atlantic to other Allied forces. Fun Fact:The 16,000 workers at the Brunswick shipyards built 99 ships, 85 of them Liberty Ships, from 1941-1945.

    Brunswick Shipyard
    Another shipyard next to the Savannah Shipyard. Was run by mostly woman civilians who made liberty ships. These ships were used to transport supplies and troops to the European and Pacific fronts. Fun FACT; 187 ships were made in Savannah and Brunswick
  • Lend Lease Program

    Lend Lease Program
    This program had the US porvide food, oil and other materials like weapons to France, Great Britan, the Repubic of China, and other Allied forces. This was suppose to help defense for the United States, and Great Britan would have to pay for the materials being sent to them. his would help the US becaue they were allies with Great Britan and they would be abke to make money and get out of the Great Depression.
  • Peral Harbor

    Peral Harbor
    It was a sneak attack by the Japaneese Inperial airforce against the US. Peral harbor was a Naval base in Hawii that waws occupied by the US. The Japaneese used fighteer pilots to shoot and use suicide bombs to destroy the base.Fun Fact:More than 2,000 Americans soldiers and sailors died in the attack, and another 1,000 were wounded.

    The Battle of Midway was a crucial and decisive naval battle in the Pacific Theater of World War II.The US decisively defeated an attacking fleet of the Imperial Japanese Navy. They attacked to get back for what Japan did to the US's base called Peral Harbor. FUN FACT: it was called "the most stunning and decisive blow in the history of naval warfare."

    D-Day
    The us landed on a beach in Germany initiating the Western Allied effort to liberate mainland Europe from Nazi Germany. D-Day for the invasion of Normandy by the Allies was originally set for June 5, 1944 but was then pushed back a dqy due to bad weather. US forcs arrived in ships illed with soilders and they tried to invade Normandy but ehile they were going up the beach there were many trapos the germans set.     Yalta Conference
    A meeting in WW2 of the heads of goverment in the US, United KIngdom, and the Sviet Union. The leader of the conference was FDR. They discussed the reorganization of Europe. FUN FACT: It was held in Lividia Palace near Yalta.
  • Hiltlers Death

    Adolf Hitler killed himself by gunshot on 30 April 1945 in his Führerbunker in Berlin.His wife Eva committed suicide with him by taking cyanide.AFter his death the US was able to take over more places in Germany and eventually destroy the German forces. FUN FACT: If Adolf Hitler wasnt pinned to kill himsef the US could have lost the war
  • Holocaust

    Holocaust
    Mass murder of over 6 milion Jews. They used comcentration cams to imprision, work, and kill Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, and political desendants. This made Georgians rethink their treatment to minorities in the state. FUN FACT: Georgians established a comission on the Holocaust to educate people about the event.
  • Hiroshima

    Hiroshima
    Harry Truman decided to drop a bomb on Hiroshima. A bomb was dropped killing 70,000 people destroying the city. People who were not dead probraly got posioning from radiation. FUN FACT: the bomb was called little boy.
  • Nagasaki

    Nagasaki
    The United States, with the consent of the United Kingdom as laid down in the Quebec Agreement, dropped nuclear weapons. The bomb that was dropped immidiatly killed 40,000 and later killed 20,000 due to radiation. On August 15, 1945, Japanese Emperor Hirohito announced an unconditional surrender, ending World War II. FUN FACT: the bomb that was used was called fat man
  • Carl Vinsion

    Carl Vinsion
    He spent 51 years in the House of Representatives.Involved in the US military matters until he reired from congress in 1964. He was known as the Father of Two Ocean Navy. FUN FACT: he had a nuclear powered aircraft carrier named after him.
  • Richard Russel

    Richard Russel
    Was the governer of GA and a US state Senator for 38 years. Helped the US prepare for WW2. Brought 15 military bases in the state along with other research facilities. FUN FACT: Graduated from UGA
  • United Nations formed

    United Nations formed
    A replacement for the ineffective League of Nations, the organization was established on 24 October 1945 after World War II in order to prevent another such conflict. Made to promote internatiional cooperation. Its objectives include maintaining international peace and security, promoting human rights, fostering social and economic development, protecting the environment, and providing humanitarian aid in cases of famine, natural disaster, and armed conflict.
