Fascism is the ideology of anti-democracy. Nazism is the rasist and antiemetic ideology that holds that the Aryan race is superior to all other races. -
Liberation of Majdanek
This was an extermination camp during WWII, held by the Nazi. After this camp was liberated, many others followed. -
Neutrality Act
Neutrality Act, law passed by the U.S. Congress, designed to keep the United States out of a possible European war by banning shipment of war materiel to belligerents at the discretion of the President and by forbidding U.S. citizens from traveling on belligerent vessels except at their own risk. -
Germany's expansion and annexation of Austria
Adolfo Hitler marched into Austria and quickly took control. Austria was Hitler's birth country, and he wanted all the German-speaking countries to be united under one flag. The Germans tried to spread the influence of the Nazi Party into Austria. -
Non-Aggression Pact
This pact stated that both sides would not use the military to attack the other for 10 years. This was before WWII, so both sides used this time to build up their armies and take over areas unopposed. -
Blitzkrieg Attack on Poland
The attack by the Germans unto the Polish was simple. The Germans had been far more advanced into everything. They tore through the Polish military with their surplus of weapons, superior number of soldiers, and their updated mentality of war. -
Battle of Britain
German and British air forces clashed in the skies over Britain, locked in the largest sustained bombing campaign. Britain's decisive victory saved them from a ground invasion and possibly be taken under control by Grrmany. -
Transition of the US home front to War production
America declared neutrality until after Pearl Harbor. Congress passed the selective training and service act. The government encouraged people to grow their own food to help the war effort. -
Lend-Lease Act
The Lend-Lease Act made it possible for the United States to send help to foreign nations. It allowed to the President to send arms, troops, intell, etc. it allowed the U.S. to help out, but not be totally involved in the war. -
The Bombing of Pearl Harbor
This was a surprise military attack conducted by the Japanease Navy against the U.S. Naval base. The Japanease dropped a nuclear bomb that destroyed the naval base. The attack led to the United States' entry into World War 2. -
Battle of Midway
The U.S. Navy attacks one of the main Japanease Naval bases, causing severe damage. "It was the most stunning and decisive blow in the history of naval warfare." (John Keegan) -
Battle of Stalingrand
The Nazi party bombed the Soviet City of Stalingrand, making it one of the most bloody battles of all time. Thousands of Japanease Americans were placed into war camps. They were locked away there until the war was over, and the survivors were paid $1.6 billion in return. -
Invasion of Africa by Eisenhower
When the U.S. and British strategists had decided on “Torch” (Allied landings on the western coast of North Africa) it remained to settle the practical details of the operation. The Soviet Union had pressed the United States and United Kingdom to start operations in Europe and open a second front to reduce the pressure of German forces on the Soviet troops. -
D-Day
160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline, to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. This was a success and the allied powers gained a section of control of Europe. -
Battle of the Bulge
Adolfo Hitler tried to split the Allied powers in half by surprising Blitzkrieg in North Europe. The allies came back with a bulge of a third-army which ended in neutrality of thr sides, but with many deaths. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
Major battle in which the United States Armed Forces landed and eventually captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese Imperial Army during ww2. The allies attempted to take control of all 3 islands and form a base there. -
V-E Day
This is referred to as victory day in Europe. This marked the day when WWII was finished in Europe. The Allied forces had obtained victory. -
Battle of Okinawa
Not only the final, but the biggest Pacific battle of WWII. It included the attacks on each of the Air Forces, and resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths. -
Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
American B-29 bomber dropped the world’s first deployed atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The explosion wiped out 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people; tens of thousands more would later die of radiation exposure. -
V-J Day
This was the day Japan surrendered, beginning the end of WWII.
