Annexation of Sudetenland
The Annexation of Sudetenland took place between October 1 and October 10 of 1938. Sudetenland was named after the Sudeten Mountains and is the land between former Czechoslovakia, Germany, and Austria. After World War 1, the land that was Sudetenland was given to Czechoslovakia after being taken from Austria. Since this land was from Austria, a large amount of the population were German or spoke German and this caused Hitler to want to annex Sudetenland. -
Attack on Pearl Harbor
The attack on Pear Harbor started right before 8 o'clock AM and was a surprise military attack by the Japanese to destroy our Naval Fleet in the Pacific. They sunk and/or damaged the USS Arizona, USS Oklahoma, USS Nevada, USS California, USS West Virginia, USS Cassin, USS Downes, and the USS Oglala. Over 2000 people died in the attack and the day after, FDR declared war on Japan. -
Philippines
Japan attacked the Commonwealth of the Philippines not long after they bombed Pearl Harbor. Like Pearl Harbor, this was also a surprise attack and they wanted to take it out because it was a United States territory and it could be used to Japan's advantage . -
Japanese Internment Camps
Japanese Internment Camps were camps where all Japanese-Americans were moved to by FDR with Executive Order 9066 after the attack on Pearl Harbor from February 19, 1942, to March 20, 1946. There were multiple camps in the United States There were ten camps in all located in California, Arizona, Utah, Arkansas, Colorado, and Wyoming with a total of 120,000 people who stayed in them. -
Island Hopping
A military strategy used by the United States in the Pacific during World War 2 to move from island to island to get closer to Japan. This allowed the United States to get to Japan quickly and gave them an advantage by surprising the Japanese. -
Battle of Midway
The Battle of Midway started on June 4, 1942, and ended on June 7, 1942, at the Pacific Theater. This was a decisive battle for the United States between them and Japan which gave the US and big advantage against Japan for the rest of the war. -
Guadalcanal
The Battle of Guadalcanal was from August 7, 1942, to February 9, 1943. This battle was the first major land battle against Japan by the allies. The victory at this and some other battles resulted in Japan eventually surrendering, and the end of the war. -
Battle of Stalingrad
The Battle of Stalingrad was between August 8, 1942, and February 2, 1943, and was fought between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. It was fought for the control of Stalingrad and was lost by the Axis Powers due to surrender when they ran out of food and ammunition. -
Los Alamos Laboratory
The Los Alamos Laboratory was designed for the Manhattan Project's purpose, to build the atomic bomb. It is located in New Mexico and tested the first atomic bomb near here on July 16, 1945, because of the vast deserts and emptyness around it. -
D-Day Invasion
The D-Day Invasion was a surprise attack from the Allies on Nazi-occupied Normandy, France. Over 150,000 soldiers were involved in the invasion which resulted in a victory for the allies and gave them a huge advantage in the rest of the war. -

The Yalta Conference in Yalta, Soviet Union from February 4, 1945, to February 11, 1945, with Joseph Stalin, Franklin Roosevelt, and Winston Churchill. The participants talked about what the postwar reorganization would be for Germany and the rest of Europe -
Hitler's Death
Before the fall of Berlin, Hiter, along with his wife and dog had retreated into his bunker to commit suicide. Hitler had only been married to his wife, Eva Braun, for about a day. They supposedly tested cyanide tablets on their dogs and its puppies before using them on themselves, but Hitler still shot himself for good measure. -
Fall of Berlin
The Battle of Berlin was the final major battle during WWII in Europe. The battle ended with Germany surrendering and Hitler's rule was over, even though he was dead by this time. -
Potsdam Conference
The Potsdam Conference took place between July 17, 1945, and August 2, 1945, in Potsdam, Germany. The participants this time were Joseph Stalin, Harry Truman, Winston Churchill, and Clement Attlee who replaced Churchill on July 26 and they discussed the terms for ending the war. -
Bombing of Hiroshima
Truman decided to bomb Japan to try and force them to surrender, however, they didn't and another atomic bomb was dropped in Nagasaki, Japan a few days later, resulting in about 200,000 deaths. The atomic bomb was being developed under the code name "Manhattan Project", and was suggested to Roosevelt by Albert Einstein in 1939.
