  • Invasion; The beginning

    Invasion; The beginning
    Poland and Great Britian declare war against Germany. 2 days before, Germany invaded Poland which caused them to enter the war. The invasion was undeclared and was very brutal to Poland. Poland was attacked from land and air coordinates. This was the beginning of World War 2
  • Alliance

    Alliance
    Germany, Italy, and Japan sign a 10 year alliance, they were known as the Axis. During the war more nations joined the axis side like the Russia and East Asia but at the time it was just Germany, Italy, and Japan. (An alliance is the act of dividing up the "sides")
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Japan bombs Pearl Harbor in the U.S.A. Pearl Harbor is in Hawaii and was our navel base. The following day our congress declared war with Japan. The Pearl Harbor attack was planned by Isoroku Yamamoto. Many boats were sunk or damaged and 2,403 americans were killed during this attack. Not only did Japan attack the U.S they hit Wake Island, Guam, and other places,
  • U.S Declares War

    U.S Declares War
    On December 8, the U.S declares war on Japan after the attack of Pearl Harbor the day before. The congress didn't hesitate to declare the war, although Jeannette Rankin was against this. 3 days later Germany and Italy declares war on the U.S also.
  • WRA camps

    WRA camps
    In 1944, the supreme court rules that the WRA camps for Japanese American people were necessary and were to be in affect until the war against Japan had ended. WRA camps were camps that held Japanese Americans while the war against Japan was going on. The camps weren't like concentration camps but Japanese people were held in there with little to eat to drink.

    D-Day
    The Landing at Normandy was when the allies invaded Europe, General Dwight D Eisenhower commanded this invasion into Europe, this was also known as D-Day. 4,000 allie ships carried the forces into France.
  • FDR; Death of A President

    FDR; Death of A President
    In early April, Franklin D. Roosevelt dies after complaining about a major headache. He was president for 12 years and more to come. After his death, Vice President Harry S. Truman takes the place of FDR as president.
  • V-E Day

    V-E Day
    On April 30 Hitler had committed suicide because he couldn't except the that the allies had defeated him and his fleet. A week after this (May 7) Germany surreneders to us allies and May 8 we celebrate the defeat which is known to us as V-E Day. (Victory in Europe)
  • First atomic bomb

    First atomic bomb
    The first atomic bombing happened in Hiroshima. We used this weapon to bomb Japan which took off at 2:45 a.m. This atomic bomb was the same amount of 20,000 tons of TNT. The bomb was so distructive that it flattened the city and killed over 70,000 people. The bomb was dropped by the Enola Gay plane.
  • V-J Day

    V-J Day
    On August 14 Japan surrenders. This event was called Victory over Japan but also known as V-J Day. The more formal surrender happened on the U.S.S "Missouri" on September 2 in Tokyo Bay. This was pretty much the ending of World War 2.
