The Germans invaded Poland, starting World War ll. Shortly after, Britain and France declared war on Germany. -
Fall of France
The Germans attacked France, going through Belgium and Luxembourg. They took Paris on June 14th. -
Battle of Britain
The Germans attacked Britain by planes and bombings. Because of their good defense line, Britain was able to win the battle and defeat Germany. -
Pearl Harbor
Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The US was not involved in the war at this point and there was no reason for Japan to bomb them. This lead to the US declaring war on Japan and joining World War ll. -
Battle of Midway
The Battle of Midway was the first time the Allies were able to win in the Pacific. -
Battle of Stalingrad
The Germans were attacking the Soviet Union and the Battle of Stalingrad was when the Soviets were able to stop them from advancing any further. This was the "turning of the tide" for the Allies. -
Italy Surrenders
The Allies invaded Italy, leading Mussolini to surrender. -
D-Day
The Allies invaded Normandy, France, in hopes to get rid of German control in France. They were successful. -
Battle of Bulge
The Battle of the Bulge was one of the last German offensives in World War ll. The plan failed and the Allies won. -
Germany Surrenders
Hitler committed suicide and shortly after, Germany surrendered to the Allies. -
Dropping of the Atomic Bomb
The US wanted to quickly end the war so they dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, killing 120,000 civillians.
