Adolf Hitler gave speeches to many Germans during the Great Depression in Germay, and were persuading them that he will be a leader that will get them out the depression. This is important because this made him a dictator, and he later on used fascism to make Germany a world power. -
Invasion of Poland
The Polish army were fighting with the German army for weeks. On September 1, 1939, The Germans broke throught the Poland border with tanks, planes, and bombs. This event is important because, this event led to the Germans annexing former Polish territories, and Britain and France declare war on Germany. -
Invasion of Paris
The German army defeated the French army, taking many people as prisoners. The Nazi's occupied France on June 15, 1940. This is important because France signed a treaty to the Nazis to takeover North France. -
The Bombing of London (Blitz)
The London Blitz started on September 7,1940 to May 11, 1941.
The Germans attempted to bomb London, until they surrendered.
This is important because Hitler seized the attack on London to start an attack on Russia. -
Invasion of the Soviet Union
On June 22,1941, German troops invaded the Soviet Union. Hitler decided to attack the Soviet Union after he signed the German-Soviet nonagression pact (August 23, 1939). This is important because it was the largest German military operation. -
The Bombing of Pearl Harbor
On December 7, 1941, many Japanese fighter planes attacked Pearl Harbor which is stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Japanese destroyed 20 naval vessels in just 2 hours. This is important because this is a turning point in the war. -
U.S. Joins the War
A day after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked congress to declare war on Japan. Germany and Italy were allies for Japan, so they declared war on the U.S. This is important because the U.S. is offically in the war and the U.S. allies begin. -
Battle of Midway
The Battle of Midway started from June 4, 1942 to June 7, 1942.
The United States defeated Japan in a Naval Base in Japan. This victory allowed the United States and our allies to move into offensive position. This is important because this led to the surrendering of Japan. -
D-Day
The United States troops landed on a beach in Normandy. German troops had the wrong coordinates, causing them to be ambushed by Canadian, United States, British troops. This is important because this leads up to the Invasion of the Soviet Union. -
Atomic Bombs
The first atomic bombs were called "Little Boy" and "Fat Man" and they were used to bomb two Japanese cities, Nagasaki and Hiroshima. This is important because this put an end to World War 2.
