    1935 Hitler
    Nazi leader Adolf Hitler began ignoring the Treaty of Versailles. He began building up the German Military to much larger levels than allowed by the treaty.
    This was evidence the Germans was planning a very aggressive future.
  • Anschluss

    Anschluss
    German troops marched into Austria. Hitler announced his Anschluss, and a plebiscite was finally held on April 10.Austria was now a nameless entity absorbed by Germany. It was not long before the Nazis soon began their typical ruthless policy of persecuting political dissidents and, of course, all Jewish citizens.
  • Munich Conference

    Munich Conference
    Gathering in Munich, Chamberlain, Hitler, and Mussolini were joined by French Prime Minister Édouard Daladier. In the agreements, Mussolini presented a plan which called for the Sudetenland to be ceded to Germany in exchange for guarantees that it would mark the end of German territorial expansion. Though presented by the Italian leader, the plan had been produced by the German government.
  • Nazi-Soviet Pact

    Nazi-Soviet Pact
    representatives from Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union met and signed the Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact, which guaranteed that the two countries would not attack each other. By signing this pact, Germany had protected itself from having to fight a two-front war in the soon-to-begin World War II; the Soviet Union was awarded land, including parts of Poland and the Baltic States. The pact was broken when Nazi Germany attacked the Soviet Union less than two years later, on June 22, 1940.

    The German party and its allies invaded Poland and within week it was taken over. Britian and France standing their guarantee of Polands border, had declared war on Germany on Sept. 3, 1339.
    Hitler did not care for argeement and ignored them and wanted to take over everything.

    Phoney War
    Many in Britian called WW2 a phoney war because near enough happened. The people didn't that the war was helping any country or nation, just poverty and saddness.
  • Danzing

    Danzing
    the Germans constructed the Stutthof camp in a wooded area west of Stutthof, a town about 22 miles east of Danzig. Originally, Stutthof was a civilian internment camp under the Danzig police chief. In November 1941, it became a security police holding center for political prisoners and persons accused of violating labor discipline. Finally, in January 1942, Stutthof became a concentration camp.
  • Blitzkrieg

    Blitzkrieg
    Greman came up with a new type of warfare, "lightning war". Tactics required concentration of the offensive weapons (tanks,planes and artillery), along with narrow front.
  • Maginot Line

    Maginot Line
    The Maginot Line dominated French military thinking in the inter-war years. The Maginot Line was a vast fortification that spread along the French/German border but became a military liability when the Germans attacked France in the spring of 1940 using blitzkrieg – a tactic that completely emasculated the Maginot Line’s purpose.
  • Czechoslovakia

    Czechoslovakia
    Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, French Premier Edouard Daladier, and British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich Pact, which sealed the fate of Czechoslovakia, virtually handing it over to Germany in the name of peace. Although the agreement was to give into Hitler's hands only the Sudentenland, that part of Czechoslovakia where 3 million ethnic Germans lived, it also handed over to the Nazi war machine 66 percent of Czechoslovakia's coal, 70 percent of its iron and steel.

    Germany's army invaded France. Bitian and France millitary team together and fight germany and help civilains get to safer land. Within weeks France was taken over.
    Seems as though there was no end to hitlers distruction.
  • Battle of Britain

    Battle of Britain
    Massive air battle against Britain and Germany. By the end of 1940, most Americans had come to realize that war was inevitable. By the beginning of July 1940, the British Royal Air Force (RAF), had built up its strength to 640 serviceable fighters, but the Luftwaffe (German air force) boasted 2,600 bombers and fighters. About 500 soldiers died in battle.
  • Poland Fell

    Poland Fell
    Polish military forces all surrender to the German Army, ending the valliant uprising. Some 250,000 Polish civilians and soldiers of Warsaw will meet their end through execution or deportation to Nazi concentration camps as a result of the Warsaw uprising.
