Britain and France declares war on German

The Battle of Hong Kong
On the same morning as the attack on the Pearl Harbor, forces of the Empire of Japan attacked Hong Kong. The attack was in violation of international law as Japan had not declared war against the Britain. Japan's attack was met with stiff resistance from Hong Kong's garrison, composed of local troops as well as British, Canadian and Indian units. The duration of war was 17 days.(Dec 8 ~25) 290 Canadians died. 500 wounded. 267 died in Japanese prison camps. -

The Allies wanted to scare the Germans so they would move soldiers away from Russia (USSR) and wanted to find out more about German coastal defences in France. They decided to have a short raid of France coastal town of Dieppe. During the battle, 907 Canadian killed, 586 wounded, 1,946 captured. -

Day of Deliverance- This battle was Canada’s largest military operation of WW 2. On 6 June 1944, Allied forces invaded Western Europe along an 80-kilometre front in Normandy, France. Almost 150,000 Allied troops who landed or parachuted into the invasion area, 14,000 were Canadians. The code-name of beachfront that they assaulted was "Juno" -
Liberation of the Netherlands
Canada emancipated Netherlands from Nazis. And almost 7600 Canadians dead or wounded for the war of liberation. On May 7,1945 Germany signed an agreement on the capitulation of German forces in the Netherlands.
