The eastern part of Czecholslovakia was already under Nazi control when Hitler took over Bohemia and Moravia. Soon after the control of the Nazi's began, many Czech gathered into the Wenseclas Square and sang their National Anthem, refusing to abide by the Nazi's rules.

Nazi-Soviet Union Nonaggression Pact
Germany and the Soviet Union signed a pact stating that the two countries would not attack each other for the next ten years.The Germans wanted the pact so they could invade Poland without extra force against them. The Soviet Union used this pact as an opportunity to keep their country peaceful and to give them time to build up their army. There was a secret agreement in this pact that stated Germany and the Soviet Union would later divide up Eastern Europe.
