    In 1938, the Treaty of Munich was created and it was decided that Hitler should have the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia. He promised those who met with him that he would not invade the Sudetenland once it was given to him......but obviously he lied and defied the treaty. This made it clear that the Appeasement Policy would not stop Hitler.

    Hitler's focus was to regain lost territory and he claimed that it's use would be living space for the "superior" German race.     Because of Hitler's decision to disobey the Treaty of Munich and to invade Poland, war was declared upon Germany. Britain and France guaranteed help to Poland before Germany advanced with the invasion. Once they did, Britain and France stuck their ground and started the war.

    Throughout the war, Hitler had his eyes on the Russian resources. Even though they were allied with the Soviets, Hitler struck up the plan, Operation Barbarossa, to surprise attack the Soviet Forces. Unfortunately for him, the Nazi Forces could not keep up with, or defeat the Russian and Soviet Troops.

    Japan had been focusing on taking parts of China and were also looking to conquer the Dutch East Indies and Malaya territories to gain more resources. This only added on to the tension that was already building between the US and Japan. The best option for the Japanese was to surprise the US and break down their pacific fleets, so they bombed us at Pearl Harbor. Because of this, the US were forced to enter the war.

    The Japanese planned to attack the Midway Islands and to defeat whatever was left of the US Naval troops after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Their forces were not strong enough to defeat the US fleets, for America only lost one carrier compared to japan's loss of all four of their carriers. The travel of the Japanese Navy across the Pacific was stopped.

    Concentration and labor camps had already been created, but Auschwitz was the first to transform into an extermination camp. Permanent gas chambers were added into the camps and were intended to kill millions, which was accomplished.

    Germany was advancing toward Southern Russia and them and their allies fought with the Soviet Union for the power to control the city of Stalingrad. At the beginning, the German's were strong, but the conditions started to wear them down. Hitler was set on "no surrender!", but his armies were failing and so the leader von Paulus went against Adolf's will.

    This was the beginning of the end of the second world war. Operation Overlord was created and America and their allies went to fight the biggest battle of the war on the Normandy beaches of France. The goal was to liberate all of Western Europe from Germany's grip. America and their allies were victorious and changed the direction of the war.

    In 1941, the first Battle of Guam was when the Japanese captured the US territory of the Mariana Islands. In the battle of 1944, the liberation of Guam had taken place. It took about three weeks to complete it and there were over 7000 total casualties.

    The very beginning of the year of 1945, the Soviet Army went to Auschwitz to free more than 7,000 sick and dying prisoners. Days before the liberation, about 60,000 prisoners were forced to leave the camp and march to their death. Around at least 1.3 million prisoners were sent to Auschwitz in the five years of the war, and it was estimated that 1.1 million of them were killed.

    Once the Russians reached Berlin, Hitler realized that he had been defeated. On April 30th, Adolf Hitler commit suicide, leaving only one option to the rest of Germany. On May 2nd and 4th, the German forces in Italy, Northwest Germany, Holland, and Denmark surrendered to the Allies. Hitler's successor gave unconditional surrender.

    Because of Japan's refusal to surrender, the island, Hiroshima was bombed. Once they refused again, island Nagasaki, was demolished by another atomic bomb. With those actions, the Japanese has no option other than to surrender and end the second world war.
