    The Japanese invasion of Manchuria began on September 18, 1931, when the Kwantung Army of the Empire of Japan invaded Manchuria immediately following the Mukden Incident.

    The invasion on Poland started on September 1, 1939.
    The Germans attacked with over 2,000 tanks and 1,000 planes.
    Germany was angry that Poland recived its old provinces of West Prussia, Poznan, and Upper Silesia under the Treaty of Versilles.

    The Germans sought a short war. Their strategy was to attack with short campaigns. This is why they called it the blitzkrieg which means Ligntning War. They used this tactic on France, Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxumburg, Yugoslavia, and Greece.

    Germans fought all the way to Stalingrad but were stalled because of Winter. After the start of Winter the Russians were on top the blitzkrieg would not function and supply lines were broken the Germans would be surrounded.

    The Germans decided to attack Russia which was a big mistake. The Germans attacked with over 3 million soldiers accompanied with over 3 thousand tanks. The Germans were surrounded around Moscow with out supplies and ammunition and so they retreated. This is what turned the war on Germany because it was fighting on two fronts.

    The Japanese were afraid of the Pacific fleet because they were about to colonize the surrounding islands near Pearl Harbor. Because of this they wanted to put down that threat. At 8 AM on December 7, 1941 the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor so that the U.S. would not be a threat to their operations.

    When Japan attacked the Philipines islands they captured more than 75,000 prisoners. They forced them to march 65 miles so they could be put into prison camps. Most did not make it because of the harsh conditions and the mistreatment from the captors.

    The Japanese hoped that the U.S. were going to be drawn out to sea so that they could be annilated but the U.S. intercepted their incoded messages and decoded them and learned of their plans. The Japanese were slaughtered. The U.S. only lost 300 seamen and 157 planes.

    The Allied Invasion of Italy began on July 10, 1943 when the Allies invaded Sicily Italy. Mussolini was captured and the new leader wanted no war against the allies so he wanted to help the m Mussolini was busted out by german commandos but to then be executed.

    The Tehran Conference was a meeting between the allied powers on military tactics and what to do about Germany. U.S. Russia and Britain all accepted each other's proposal and plan of actions. The leaders that attended were Stalin, Roosevlet, and Churchill. They also discussed on post WWII.

    Operation Neptune was the largest sea invasion known in history operation. The army's that are involved in the assault include Canadians French Americans and Polish. They struck on four different beach heads. Gold Utah Omah Juno were the code names given to the beaches that were assaulted during the invasion.

    It was Germany's last major attack and he lost to General Patton and his army. They attacked the Allies hoping that they could split up their forces but they failed because they ran out of supplies.

    The Postdam Conference was a conference of the main allied powers on what to do about negotiations of the peace treaty. They met in Postdam Germany the leaders involved were Stalin Truman and Churchill. They all got pieces of demilitarized zones to watch over.

    The Russians were the first to liberate a camp and were the main liberators while the Americans and the British liberated the rest. They saved as many Jews as possible while expirenceing the worst genocide known to man.
  • Dropping of the atomic bomb

    When Japan refused to back down the U.S. had to act. They decided to use a new piece of technology on Japan on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Both bombs had an excess of 10,000 casualties and flatten the cities that they were used on. Japan formally surrendered after the bombing of Nagasaki.

    It is the day in which Japan surrenderd because of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima and Nagaski. Because of the war ending president Truman declared the day to be called VJ day to comemortate the victory over Japan.
