Hitler's Germany has conquered many countries throughout Europe. On September 1, 1939 Germany invaded Poland. This is what started World War 2 because France and Britain signed a mutual assistance treaty with Poland. When the Nazis invaded Those countries had to step in to help. -

Germans in Paris
Germans have now taken Denmark, Norway, Belgium, and Netherlands. They have also invaded France and bombed Paris. The Germans now have control of Northern France. Germans give ruling power of southern France to the Vichy Government. -
Battle of Britain
The Battle of Britain begns. This was a battle for air superiority. If Briitain lost then Germany would be able to execute Operation Sea Lion, which would be the invasion of Britain. -
Germany Invades Russia
The Germans invade Russia heading for Moscow. Hitler realizes this to be a big mistake later in the war. -
Pearl Harbor Attack
The Japanese bombed pearl harbor. Many innocent lives were taken. As a result of Pearl Harbor the US got behind the war efforts and the next day Declared war on Japan. -
Battle of Stalingrad
The battle of Stalingrad begins. This could be a turning point in the war for either side. Named the bloodiest battle in the history of warfare. -
D-Day
On this date were the D-Day landings in Normandy. It was a long and devastating battle, but the allies came out victorious. -
Auchwitz Freed
Soviets free the Auchwitz concentration camp on this day. This is right after they had captured Warsaw, Poland. -
Yalta Conference
Stalin, Roosevelt, and Churchill meet at the Yalta conference. They discussed how to handle the post war devastation of Europe. -
VE Day
The war in Europe was over. The allies had won over the Germans. The Japanese were not finished though.
