World War 2 1933-1945

  • Holocaust

    The Holocaust started in 1933. The Holocaust was when the Nazis killed of Jewish people. The person who started the holocaust was Adolf Hitler.
  • WW2 started in Europe

    Germany or the Nazis invaded Poland on September 1st 1939. Both countries were allies with other countries. Germany were allies with Italy, Japan, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Romania. Poland was allies with Great Britian, France, and The Soviet Union.
  • Brunswick Shipyard

    Brunswick was one of the sixteen ports that were allowed to cargo ships that would help the allies. After the U.S declared war the ships were made at incredible speed. It made 99 of those ships.
  • Lend Lease Program

    The Americans wanted to help Great Britian but the wanted to stay neutral. So they gave surplus weapons to the Allies. They also let britian set up ships at U.S ports.
  • Pearl Harbor

    The U.S was still nuetral in the war, when Japan bombed a war ship harbor Hawaii. That is what caused U.S to join the war. Japan was on the Axis powers, so America joined the Allies.
  • Savannah Shipyard

    Was another place in GA to build cargo ships. Was awarded the Southeastern Shipbuilding Corporation. They made 88 ships in 3 years.
  • Bells Aircraft

    Was in the small town of Marietta, Georgia. After four months after Pearl Harbor the production increased. They helped build advanced bombers.
  • Richard Russell

    He was the govenor of GA, a legislator, and a senator. He helped strengthen the countries defense and worked for civil rights. He was apponted to the Naval Affairs Commitie.
  • Carl Vinson

    Wasa a U.S congressmen during WW2. Was a congressmen for 25 terms (50 years). Helped improve the Navy's aircrafts and aviotors.
  • D- Day

    The battle lasted from June to August. It was after France was taken over by Germany. So the Allies invaded Normandy.
  • Yalta Conference

    The Yalta conference was the second war time meeting of Russia, U.S, and Great Britian. In the meeting they discussed Germany's surrender. They also disscussed the post war problems
  • Hitlers Death

    After the Axis powers lost the Allies were hunting Hitler down so he could face trial. Hitler was scared that the allies were closing in so he killed himself. He was hiding underground, below Berlin.
  • VE-Day

    This the day the allies defeated the European countries in the Axis power. The Germans surrendered to Soviet attackers in Prague. The Nazis finally surrendered with a cease fire.
  • Bomb dropped on Hiroshima

    Japan was the only country that was still in the Axis powers. The Allies wanted to end the war quickly. So the U.S dropped an Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima.
  • Bomb dropped on Nagasaki

    Japan was still not surrendering, so the Allies wanted to finish it faster. So the U.S dropped another bomb on Japan. This time it was on Nagasaki.
  • U.N being created

    The allies wanted to make a organization that would fight the Axis powers. The name was made by FDR. There was 51 original countries.
