    Japanese Invasion of Manchuria
    Japan thought that the Chinese army was sabotaging the railroad. Japan had built the railroad in Manchuria to transport goods. When the news broke out that they tried to destroy it, Japan became mad. This led to Japan over taking Manchuria.

    The Stimson doctrine was a warning. U.S was trying to warn the Japanese army to put a stop to the war. The doctrine was unsuccessful and didn't help at all.
  • Bonus Army

    Many people including World War 1 veterans gathered in this "assembly". The marchers demanded that they get their bonus money from the war. They claimed that the government owed them this bonus.

    Germany violated this treaty. They went against it and militarized Rhineland. This later began to cause more problems between the countries involved in the treaty.

    This was a surprise attack from the Japanese. They destroyed 188 U.S aircrafts, killed over 2,000 people, and wounded over 1,000 more. This was the event that ultimately led to the U.S entering World War 2.

    This order signed by FDR was for protection. The order stated that the military could ban immigrants even if they are citizens. The big target in this were the Japanese, since this came right after the bombing of pearl harbor. Many Japanese, Germans, and Italians were sent to internment camps.

    The battle was fought almost completely in the air. During this battle the United States destroyed Japan's first line carrier. This destroyed most of Japans fighter planes and killed most of their talented pilots. Overall this put a stop to any further destruction from Japan.

    The Russians thought this to be their most successful Patriotic Battle. This was the bloodiest and deadliest battle. There were over 2 million people who died. This battle stopped Germany from attacking the Soviet Union.

    Benito Mussolini surrendered on behalf of the Italian army. They were on a downfall before the news came out. With this surrender the Italians hinted that they might change sides and turn on Germany.

    Allied forces invaded Northern France. They invaded by going to the beach fronts of Normandy, France. This attack a lot of planning and staging.

    This was one of the last attempts for Hitler to split the allied armies in Europe. Germany brought 200,000 soldiers and 1,000 tanks. Although the United States won this battle, it came at a cost. They lost over 100,000 soldiers from combat, or other sicknesses in the cold winter.

    Germany finally surrendered. Britain then decided to throw street parties and celebrate. Although the war is over in Europe, it continued in Japan as well as America.

    The bomb dropped on Hiroshima was nicknamed "Little Boy". This is ironic since the bomb dropped was pretty large. It gave off 13 kilotons of force. It is said to have killed anywhere from 100,000-200,000 civilians and soldiers.

    Bombing of Nagasaki
    This bomb was nicknamed "Fat Man". The name fits the bomb as it gave off 21 kilotons of force. It is estimated that this bomb killed more than 65,000 people. This includes civilians, soldiers, and prisoners of war. Nagasaki was not even the original target. They wanted to bomb kokura. But the pilot had a tough time dropping bombs there so they went to Nagasaki instead.

    Japan surrendered on this day. It came just days after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This was the last step in ending WW2.
