The Nationalists and the Communists got along for the first few years after the treaty, successing in fighting off the warlords. However, Jiang Jieshi sent soldiers to Shanghai to kill the Communists. The Nationalist almost killed all the Communists. Therefore, Mao Zedong escaped to a mountain, but Jiang outnumbered the Communists and made the Communists retreat. This retreat was called the Long march, a 6000-mile trip in which numerous soldiers died of famine and more. -
Germany invades Poland; France and Great Britain declare war on Germany
The Allies took the Polish Corridor from Germany after WW1, and Hitler wanted it back. After making a nonaggression pact with Stalin, which promised to share territories with Russia, Hitler started planning to conquer Poland. Hitler used blitzkrieg or lightning war to conquer Poland. The Germans sent airplanes and tanks to take the enemy by surprise. This was the first time Hitler used blitzkrieg, and it worked. Since France and Great Britain were Poland's ally, they declared war on Germany. -
Japan attacks Pearl Harbor
Japan wanted to attack the European colonies and the United States when they weren't ready, so an Admiral named Isoroku Yamamoto ordered that the Japanese attack both the British and Dutch colonies and Hawaii at the same time. Therefore, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. The U.S codebreakers guessed that an attack might come, but they didn't know when. Therefore, there were many casualties, and this event led to U.S entering the war. -

Germany Surrenders
After the Battle of the Bulge, the Allies came to surround Germany. About three million Allied soldiers and six million Russian troops marched and surrounded the city of Berlin. At an underground headquarter in Berlin, Hitler married Eva Braun and committed suicide with her. Their bodies were burned outside. Allies use atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
After U.S conquered Okinawa, the only place left to conquer was Japan. Truman knew that conquering Japan will cost about another half a million Allied soldiers. Truman didn't want that, so he decided the use the atomic bomb, which was made by the Manhattan Project. They first tested the A-bomb in New Mexico and warned the Japanese. The Japanese didn't pay attention, so the U.S dropped the bomb on Hiroshima dn Nagasaki and wiped out everything there.
