    Hitler delcares himself as Fuhrer.
    After there was much unrest while Hitler was chancellor, he declared himself Fuhrer giving him the power to control and rule. From then his rule officially started over the German people.
  • Mussolini invades Ethiopia

    Mussolini invades Ethiopia
    Ethiopia resisted Italian attacks uring the 1800's and this angered Mussolini. He eventally ended up forcing a huge attack upon Ethiopia which he conquered successfully. The league of nations, Britain and France both ignored their pleads of help in order to try and keep European peace. The League of Nations although strong in statement were actually very strengthless.

    Germany takes the Rhineland
    The League of Nations were not successful in stopping Hitler take over the Rhineland. However this came to be because France wanted to avoid the war costing them the Rhineland which they had given to Germany. The appeasements of the British and French made Hitler decide to speed up his expansion.

    Since Hitler was growing strong and famous, Mussolini sought to seak an alliance with him. They made an agreement called the Rome-Berlin Axis. Several months later Japan also came to alliance and the three became the Axis Powers.

    Hitler decided to absorb Austria and Czechoslovakia into the Third Reich or the German Empire. France and Britain ignored to protect Austria's independence and Germany annexed it. While Hitler was trying to take Czechoslovakia, they asked France for help after refusing Hitler.

    Mussolini called a conference inviting the British, French, Germans and Italy. Britain tried to avoid war by giving in to Hitler's demands and agreed he could take the Sudetenland but had to respect France's borders.

    Starting from 1935 by the Nuremberg Laws, the Nazi's slowly enforced rules stating that Jews were no longer Germans up to the genocide where the Jews were not considered human beings and were murdered in concentration camps. Around 6 million Jews were killed in the whole Holocaust during World War 2.

    Hitler and Mussolini aided Francisco Franco in a revolt by supporting him with tanks, men and weapons. Early 1939 the republic fell and Franco became Spain's fascist dictator.

    While Britain and France were asking the Soviet Union to join them, Stalin made a secret agreement with Hitler not to attack each other despite being previously bitter enemies. They agreed to carve up Europe and share the earnings. They attacked Poland together sandwiching it from both sides.

    Hitler's first use of the Blitzcreg (lightning war) tactic took place in Poland. He suprise attacked with German tanks and troops as the planes bombed Poland's capital, Warsaw. France and Britain declared war on Germany but Poland came down too fast before they could make any military response.

    French leaders surrender after Germany used various tactics such as faking attacks, trying to go through Belgium and more. The Germans took Paris in June 14th and the leaders had to face defeat. This showed the true German power because France was the main and strongest country connected to Europe. Britain was the only target left for Hitler that faced him as a challenge.

    Battle of Britain
    Hitler decided to take Britain after taking over France by sending ships and airplanes. They gradually started attacking radar stations and factories until a small the British gave a small attack on Berlin. Hitler became furious and started to attack British cities to lower their morale. The RAF could rebuild and repair while the German planes were targetting cities. The British mannaged to withhold and Hitler had to retreat.

    Hitler attacks the Soviet Union
    Hilter planned to attack the Soviet Union. However they were not prepared although they had the biggest army in the world as they were not well trained or equipped. The Russians destroyed crops which could be food as the Germans advanced 500 miles. Then the Germans put Leningrad under seige in which around 1 million people died of starvation. However the city refused to fall.

    Hitler puts Leningrad under siege
    Hitler's soldiers put Leningrad under siege. This meant that all of the Russians within were stuck inside the city with no food and water. Stalin however did not give up and in the process around 1million people died from famine.
  • Pearl Harbor

    The Japanese surprise attacked the U.S. Pearl Harbor. This started the war off between the U.S. and Japan also putting the U.S. within the second world war. The Japanese attacked to put the U.S. navy out of interfering with Japanese trying to take over Southeast Asia and further on.

    Even though the war was over in Europe the Japanese and the Americans were still fighting. The Allied forces landed on the Phillipines. The Japanese tried to destory the fleet to stop reinforcements and supples but they failed and lost a lot of their navy.

    German forces almost destory Stalingrad when a cold winter takes place and Russians attack and are able to withold Stalingrad. They slowly push the Germans back.
  • Invasion of Italy

    U.S. forces attack Sicily and capture it form Italian and German soldiers. After this event, Mussolini loses power and later on is eventualy cuaght by Italian resistance soldiers and shot for evyerone to see.

    More than 3 million troops waited to attack the coast of Normady. They also made a fake dummy army as well as fake headquarters to keep Hitler guessing when they would attack.
  • The Battle of the Bulge

    The Battle of the Bulge
    Hitler faced a war on two fronts which was against the Allies as well as the Soviets on each side. He thought a split in the middle would weaken their power. The German tanks attacked a weak middle side of the Allied forces but eventually had to retreat due to lack of reinforcments.
  • Atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

    Atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
    The U.S. warned the Japanese to surrender otherwise they would "rain fire from the skies" the Japanese did not respond so the first atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima. Thousands of people were killed but they still did not surrender. A second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki in August 9th 1945, killing many more people as well as from the radiation.
