Nazi Germany Established
Nazi Germany also known as the Third Reich (Drittes Reich) was what present day Germany was known as during its totalitarianism dictatorship run by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party from 1933-1945. Nazi Germany was best known for its aggressive foreign policy, it’s launching of the Second World War and the Holocaust-which lead to the murder of millions of Jewish in Europe, Hungarians, Gypsies, Russians, Italians, and other minorities deemed to be subhuman by Adolf Hitler.

Germany Declares War on Poland (Start of world war 2 in Europe)
The invasion of Poland was also known as the September Campaign or 1939 Defensive War in Poland, or the Poland Campaign in Germany. The invasion took place on September 1, 1939 and ended on October 6, 1939 with Germany and the Soviet Union dividing and re-claiming all of Poland.

Canada Enters The War
Although the War officially started on September 1, 1939, it wasn’t until September 3, 1939 that Britain and France declared war on the Germany. One week later on September 10, 1939 that Canada made its first independent declaration of war, on Germany. By the end of the war more than 1 million citizens would have served in the military uniform and Canada would own the fourth-largest air force and the third-largest naval task force in the world.

Hitler sent bombers to attack British ports. Canada have relatives in Britain that they’re feeling concerned about. So they’ll be more committed to the war.

The city of London was heavily bombed. Hitler hoped to destroy the moral of the British people but the RAF defended the skies and the raid ceased.

Dieppe Raid
The Dieppe Raid, also known as the Battle of Dieppe, Operation Rutter, and later Operation Jubilee. The raid took place on the northern coast of France on August 19, 1942. It began at 0500 and by 1050 the Allied commanders were forced to call a retreat. The objective of the raid was unclear and has largely been accredited to Vice-Admiral Louis, Lord Mountbatten. The chief of Combined Operations. The Dieppe Raid was one of the most unsuccessful battles of World War 2.

The Belgian port of Antwerp and the surrounding Sheldt River in the Netherlands is captured by the Canadian army. Belgian was liberated. With this port in allied hands vital supplies could reach the Allies. Canada is forever appreciated by the Dutch.
