    During this period, the Nazis flattened several cities including London, Liverpool, Manchester and Cardiff.
  • Italy invades Greece

  • D-day happens

    D-day begins with the Battle of Normandy. It marked the turning point for Allied forces. The entire operation is code-named Overlord.
  • 12 April, 1945

    President Franklin Roosevelt passed away. Harry Truman took his place for president.
  • V-E Day arrives

    After a long struggle, Europe finally emerged victorious and free from Axis forces.
  • Hiroshima Bombing

    In a last ditch effort to make Japan surrender, the Americans dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city Hiroshima, resulting in tens of thousands dead.
  • Nagasaki Bombing

    A second and final atomic bomb was dropped by the Americans on the Japanese city Nagasaki. The casualties were worse than the previous one's. Days after this bomb was dropped, Japan surrendered.
  • V-J Day

    V-J stands for victory in Japan. After six long years, Japan finally surrendered.
  • WWII is over!
