Archduke Franz Ferdinand assassinated
On July 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in Bosnia by Gavrilo Princip. This is what started WW1 because after the Archduke was assassinated France allied with Germany to get revenge on Serbia but Russia was allied with Serbia and they fought back. -
