Britain Declared War on Germany
Britain had delivered and ultimatum to Germany that if Britain would stay neutral that Germany would not attack, but Germany had not answered so in order to protect themselves they declared war. -

Germany sends Zimmerman telegram in secret to Mexico to try and persuade them to join the war but Britain incercepts the message and deciphers it first. -

The United States declared war on Austria-Hungary on this day. This was important because it showed how strongly the U.S. was on the side of the Allies and how strongly they wanted to win the war. -

This is the unofficial end of World War 1. We now celebrate this day, but the name has been changed to Veteran's Day.
