Development of Alliances

1914

The Alliances provided for the European states by serving them a measure of protection.Without the Alliances the Europeans wouldn't have the protection they have now and back then.They helped stabilize the balance of power in Europe.Germany,Austria-Hungary,and Italy were all part of the triple alliance.Great Britain,France,and Russia were part of the triple entente.

The Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand

Archduke assassination was important because the Europeans were close to him so they quickly got their power and fell in line to defend their alliances.That sparked a chain of events that led to the outbreak of World War 1 by early August.Which Austria-Hungary declared war.

Austria declaring war on Serbia

After a month to the day of Archduke death,Austria declared war for killing someone close to them.They broke relations with Serbia and threatened that if they entered by Russia then Austria would explode into a general European war.

The First Battle of the Marne

The Battle was between French army and the British Expeditionary Force,they were going against the Germans.To save Paris from capture so they pushed the Germans back 45 miles away.But overall the French got the victory.

Stalemate on the Western Front

Stalement was develop because of 4 reason,one being that the Schlieffen plan failed,the French were unable to defeat the Germans completely at the Battle of the Marne,one more reason was the "race to the Channel".

Some of the technology in WW1 were Heavy artillery,machine guns,tanks,motorized transport vehicles,high explosives,chemical weapons,and etc.

Sinking of the Lusitania

The sinking caused so many innocent life's to be taken because of the hands of the German galvanized and for entering the war.Which turned the tide into Allies.And it all started by launching a torpedo and within 18 minutes the passengers were trying to get off the boat and into life boats which over a few thousand people got away but sadly some didn't get out in time or were stuck on the ship.

Russian Revolution

One cause that started the Russian Revolution was a widespread inflation and food shortages in Russia contributed to the revolution.There was a lot of effects because of those causes which were poor conditions,low wages,and hazards of industrialization.

America Joins the War

The role for America was to stay back and not get involved with the war.But when they get involved some of the American's took different positions like ambulance drivers or nurses,or even as pilots and soldiers.They were basically supporting and if they needed to be put into the war then they knew their positions and spots already.

Armistice

This day ended hostilities between the Allies and German.It did not just end the first world war but there was an agreement which stopped the fighting on the Western Front even when the terms of the permanent peace was discussed.Germany signed an armistice to where World War 1 was known as the war to end all wars because of the slaughter and destruction it caused.The Americans won and Germany lost.
