    The US was not happy with the Germans. This is one event that made the US want to join the war.
  • Warsaw is captured

    After the third battle of Warsaw, the Germans capture Warsaw. This happened during about the same time they finally had a victory at Gorlice-Tarnow.
  • Conscription is introduced

    Conscription was introduced in Britain. Conscription is where men 17 years or older were required by law to enlist into the military. Although they were supposed to be 17, many young men as young as 12 lied about their age and enlisted anyway. Most were killed in combat.
  • First use of tanks at the Somme

    This was the first time tanks were used together in a group with multiple amounts of tanks.

    When Germany tried to write to Mexico to declare war on the US, England intercepted the message. England then told the US, which pushed the US to finally declare war on Germany.

    This peace treaty was signed between Russia and Germany. It marked the exit of Russia from the war. It also confirmed the independence of Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Lithuania.

    The armistice was signed when all of Germany's allies (Austria-Hungary, Turkey, and Bulgaria) had surrendered. Since Germany's allies could no longer continue in the war, Germany agreed to surrender.

    The treaty took away about 13.5% of Germany's territory which was about seven million people.
