    German Jews stripped of rights by Nuremberg Race Laws. The laws excluded German Jews from Reich citizenship and prohibited them from marrying or having sexual relations with persons of "German or related blood."
  • Munich Conference

    A policy of "appeasement" was given to Hitler on his demand of invading the Sudetenland, in the hope that Hitler would not make any more demands. Thus, Chamberlain,Eduard Daladier, and Benito Mussolini met in Munich with Hitler and officially agreed to the annexation of the Sudeten region to Germany.

  • Battle of the Coral Sea

    A naval battle in the Coral Sea between Australia and New Guinea, The Allies of the battle (Australia and America) were defending Port Moresby from being invaded by sea from the Japanese. The Japanese wanted to occupy Port Moresby and by doing so cut off America from Australia. Ultimately the battle was won by the Allies, although they lost more ships then the Japanese, the Japanese were forced to push back and recall their invasion fleet.
  • El Alamein

    Two battles took place. First Battle of El Alamein (July 1 – July 27, 1942) the advance of Axis troops on Alexandria was blunted by the Allies, when the German troops tried to outflank the allied position. At the Second Battle of El Alamein (October 23 – November 11, 1942) Allied forces broke the Axis line and forced them all the way back to Tunisia.
  • Teheran Conference

    Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin meet at Teheran. The three leaders coordinated their military strategy against Germany and Japan and made a number of important decisions concerning the post World War II era.
  • D-Day Invasion

    Western Allies landed in northern France, opening the "Second Front" against Adolf Hitler's Germany. The Normandy invasion was in a strategically important region, setting the stage to drive the Germans out of France and ultimately destroy the National Socialist regime.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes. December 16-27. It was the last major Nazi offensive against the Allies. The battle was a last ditch attempt by Hitler to split the Allies in two in their drive towards Germany and destroy their ability to supply for themselves.
  • Yalta Conference

    Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin meet at Yalta. Here they made important decisions regarding the future progress of the war and the postwar world.
  • Reoccupation of the Rhineland

    The Battle of the Rhineland began when the Allies lead an attack to drive Germans to the Rhine River and out of the Netherlands.Fighting was slow because of the mud and floods, and bout 23 000 Allied soldiers died, including over 5300 Canadians. Germany lost about 90 000 men.On March 10th, the German army pulled out to east of Rhine River and allowed the Canadians to liberate Holland.
  • The Battle for Iwo Jima

    US Marines landed on Iwo Jima to try and capture the airfields on the island that would allow them to attack Japan. The Japanese had tunnelled into Mount Suribachi with artillery firing down onto the US troops. Eventually the US Marines were able to overrun the Japanese positions, but few prisoners were taken due to mass suicide by the Japanese. A famous monument was based of the Marines who captured Mount Suribachi and raised an American flag on top of it.
