    Germany invades Poland. This unprecedented invasion outrages Britain and France.

    Within days of the invasion, Great Britain and France declare war on Germany.

    Dunkirk Evacuations

    The German forces halt their advance to allow British and French forces to retreat back to Britain. Over 300 thousand troops are rescued from the city.

    Allied forces begin removal of German forces from North Africa and capture valuable oil and metal fields needed by Germany.

    France signs an armistice with Germany six weeks after the Germans invade.

    London Blitz

    Adolf Hitler orders non-stop day and night bombing of London.
  • British Sink KMS Bismark

    After a great final stand, the British sank the German battleship Bismark. This provided a much needed morale boost to British citizens.
  • Pearl Harbor is Bombed

    Imperial Japan launches a surprise attack on the US Pacific fleet moored at Pearl Harbor, amidst peace talks. This outrages the US people and the US joins the war against Germany and Japan

    Battle of Wake Island

    The Japanese attack us forces at Wake Island, forcing them off the island.
  • Doolittle Raid

    On April 18, 1942, 16 B-25' took off from carriers off the coast of Japan to bomb Tokyo. As soon as the planes launched, the carriers returned back to the US. As a result, Imperial Japan pulled massive amounts of troops and machinery back to Japan, weakening Japanese offensive ability in the Pacific.

    Battle of Midway

    The US and Imperial Japan clash in a massive naval and land battle at the Midway islands. Here the Japanese loses a massive amount of naval strength. After this battle, Japan will not gain anymore ground in the Pacific Theatre.

    Battle of Stalingrad

    Adolf Hitler has pushed deep into Russia and decides to launch an attack on the Soviet city of Stalingrad instead of push to Moscow. After a long bloody battle lasting months, Soviet forces trap the German army. The Germans lose a massive amount of troops in this fight and will never make progress again in the East.

    Allied forces land on Normandy beach after an incredibly rough fight, German forces retreat deeper into France.

    Battle of Iwo Jima

    The US attacks the one of the largest and one of the last major Japanese strongholds in the Pacific, resulting in a long bloody battle with the US coming out victorious.

  • US Bombs Hiroshima

    A US b29 bomber drops the first atomic weapon on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, killing roughly 146-thousand people.
  • US Bombs Nagasaki

    A US b29 drops the second, and last, aatomic bomb on the Japanese city of Nagasaki, killing roughly 80-thousand people.
  • VJ Day

    Japan surrenders to the US aboard the USS Iowa, ending the Pacific War and WWII.
