Women Trafficking in Pakistan

  • First ever quoted definition for trafficking.

    The most commonly quoted definition of trafficking was provided by the "United Nations Protocol to Prevent, Suppress, and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children" passed in November 2000.
  • The famous "2005" report

    In the famous 2005 report, women and girls are trafficked to the United Arab Emirates regularly to work as dancers and used for sexual exploitation. Gave a 4.5% increase in the female trafficking, in which 1.7% were of minors.
  • 2.5% increase

    2,595 cases from all over Pakistan which was 2.3% increase since the past 5 years.

    The situation got much worse since the number of cases fired upto 2,190 women being kidnapped and around 1,260 are raped.
  • Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act 2018

    In order to combat the menace of human trafficking especially in respect of women and children (victim), the law "Prevention of Trafficking in Person Act 2018" was enacted which says “Anyone who commits the offence of trafficking in person is liable to be punished with imprisonment upto seven years or fine upto one million or with both. But if this offence is committed in respect of women and children the punishment has been extended upto ten years

  • Rapid increase since past 10 years

    19,954 trafficking victims were identified 15,802 female victims.
