  • Mob Convention (Women's Rights Convention)

    The New York state meeting of the Women’s Rights Convention was attended by 3,000 people. Based on having negative press coverage, protesters continually interrupted the meeting, and police failed to intervene. Annotation: This event is important because protestors were trying to stop the meeting. Nobody stopped the protestors.

Annotation: This event is important because women want an official amendment to gain their voting rights. Annotation: The two women were trying to make an action be heard by the court. And this step was essential to maintain that goal.

    The territory of Wyoming passes the first women's suffrage law. The following year, women begin serving on juries in the territory. Annotation: This event is important because it is the first territory that allows women to vote.

    She was appointed the justice of the peace of South Pass City, Wyoming: she is the first female government official. Annoation: This event is important because slowly females are being exposed to the jobs that are looked upon as only men can do.

    Susan B. Anthony arrested
    Susan B. Anthony attempts to vote for Ulysses S. Grant in the presidential election and is arrested and brought to trial in Rochester, New York. Fifteen other women are arrested for illegally voting. Annotation: This event is important because Anthony wanted to take a stand and vote. Her decision influenced other women and caused others to realize how serious this suffrage is.
