    Died: Auburn, New York, USA) Role: Abolitionist, Underground Railroad leader, Civil War spy Harriet Tubman was an escaped enslaved woman who became a key figure in the abolitionist movement. She rescued over 70 enslaved people through the Underground Railroad and worked as a spy, scout, and nurse during the U.S. Civil War. She later fought for women’s suffrage and is remembered as a symbol of courage and freedom.

She also served as Kenya’s Assistant Minister Environment and fought for democracy .
