Rosa Parks refuses to give up her seat.
Because Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat and was arrested, it sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott. It was led by Martin Luther King and Ralph Abernathy. The Supreme Court ruled bus segregation unconstitutional. If it weren't for the mentoring of Ralph Abernathy to Martin Luther King, the boycott may have not been so successful. There would have probably not been a boycott or it would have not been as affective. Thus the buses would still probably be segregated. -

The Civil Rights Movement

Montgomery Improvement Association
Formed by MLK, Ralph Abernathy, and others, the MIA was important in directing the Montgomery Bus Boycott. If Ralph Abernathy weren't there to mentor MLK, the boycott would probably not been so suceessful. The bus system wouldn't have lost a lot of money, thus the buses might still be segregated today. -
Southern Christian Leadership Conference Establishment
The SCLC was an African American civil rights organization that was co-founded by MLK, Ralph Abernathy, and others. When King died, Abernathy became the president of the organization. Without Abernathy, the SCLC would have never helped desegregated schools and businesses, had class action law suits against segregated employee lunch rooms and won, never gotten so many African Americans to vote, led so many demonstrations, and helped give minorities their civil rights. -
Civil Rights Act of 1964 passed
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed any form of prejudice in regard to race, religion, gender, or national origin and ended discriminatory laws, like the Jim Crow laws. Without the many strides of Ralph Abernathy and Dr.King in the SCLC, the Civil Rights Act would have probably not been passed because no one would have fought like them for the people's rights. Thus, minorities and such protected in this legistration, would still live in a racist institution of that time. -
Voting Rights Act of 1965
This act outlawed voting practices that wouldn't allow minorities to vote. Without the work of Ralph Abernathy and Dr.King in the SCLC, the Voting Rights Act would have probably not been passed. Then, minorities and such protected in this legistration, would not be able to vote.
