Ch. 1-10 Pages 1-43
Lia's friend Cassie is discovered dead, and the fact that Cassie called ehr 33 times that night haunts Lia. Lia's sturggle with anorexia becomes more obvious and Lia's mother notices, but Lia stays away from her at her father and her stepmother's house. Lia sees Cassie's ghost and goes to therapy but doesn't talk. Her senior year drags on. total: 43 pages -
Ch. 10-25 Pages 43-107 total: 107
Cassie's ghost appears to Lia one night, scaring Lia. She wakes up the nest morning late, and rushes downstairs and fills her stomach with water and wears a robe with coins stitched in so that when Jennifer, her stepmom, weighs her she will weigh normal. Her weight is 107 fake pounds, 99 real pounds. She gets a message from a guy at the hotel where Cassie dies, adn goes and visits him but doesnt say that she is Lia. She also cuts again. Dinner- forces food into herself to aviod treatment AGAIN. -
Ch 25-28 Pages 107-121 total: 121
Lia goes to Cassie's wake and sees a vision of Cassie getting up and swallowing the see-glass Lia returned to her coffin. Elijah brings Lia (pretending to be Emma) to a coffee shop adn they talk. Lia is still haunted by Cassie's ghost and the fact that Cassie called her 33 times. Lia's mom and dad worry that her anorexia is returning, Lia lies. Lia goes to therapy and refuses to talk. Lia's self-hatred becomes apparent. She also asks Elijah to go to Cassie's funeral- hoping hauntings will stop. -
Ch 28-37 pages 121-165 total: 165
Elijah and Lia/Emma go to the funeral and see Lia's mother, who Lia hates. Lia's anorexia gets worse, and she makes 3 more cuts on the other hip. Lia feels lost in life. Lia rememebers her time in the recovery center and she rememebers the first time she saw Cassie make herself puke. Lia goes to stay with her mother for one night. Lia learns that Cassie died from over-puking (esophagus ruptured). Lia struggles through the night and next day, struggles through memories. -
Ch 37-45 pages 165-205 total: 205
Lia and her mother talk, trying not to argue. Lia doesn't eat dinner, but her mother doesn't comment, instead asking Lia to move back in or at least stay winter break. Lia agrees but not really. Lia remembers Cassie and her deal to be skinniest together. Lia loses weight. 97. She struggles moer with eating. Must. Not. Eat. Christmas nears, Cassie haunts. 94. Lia excercises like crazy. Emma her sister breaks her arm. Cassie haunts. Lia eats tons of cupcakes, gets really sick. -
Ch. 45- 65 Pages 205-278 total: 278
Lia is sent home to her mother's house 2 days before Christmas, and is going to be put back into treatment in a week. Lia and her mother argue. Cassie still haunts her. Lia wants to just die. Emma has nightmares cause of Lia, Lia hates herself. She tells her therapist about the ghosts she sees and about Cassie, therapist wants her locked into a psychiatric ward. Lia runs to Elijah adn asks to leave with him. He says if Lia eats, she can come. Elijah leaves while she sleeps. Lia sleeps -
Ch. 45- 65 Pages 205-278 total: 278
Lia takes too many sleepign pills and doesn't eat anything for days. No one knows where she is, she is alone. Her heart starts to slow, she visits Cassie in the dead-land. Cassie tells her she is dying. Lia fights with Cassie and sees that she could have a future, and helps Cassie cross over. Lia wakes up, barely, and calls ehr mother to come get her, telling her she is barely alive. She spent ten days in the hospital and then commited to recovery. She is thawing. -
Ch. 45- 65 Pages 205-278 total: 278
Lia's body freaks because of the sugar she accidentally ate. Lia eats less and less. Her parental figures worry and fret. Lia calls Elijah and asks what he was gonna say. Cassie's mesage to Lia was "Tell Lia she won. I lost and she won." Lia is upset. She disagrees, she says she didn't win. 89. She says only 0 would be good enough. Lia cuts super deep. All over. Emma finds her, starts screaming. Lia is rushed to the hospital, Cassie the ghost is excited- Lia almost dies.
