In the sixth year of the reign of Elizabeth I of England, William Shakespeare was baptized in Stratford-upon-Avon, a small village in Warwick County. -
Marriage
When he was 18 years old, Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway, 26, originally from Temple Grafton, a town near Stratford. Apparently he was in a hurry to arrange the wedding. -
Children
The couple's firstborn daughter, Susanna, was baptized in Stratford. A son, Hamnet, and another daughter, Judith, born twins, were also baptized shortly after. -

William moved to London with his wife with the intention of becoming an actor and writer. -

He began his career as a playwright and actor, working for the Chamberlain's Men theater company, which he co-owned later. -

What really gave the British writer fame were his plays. As a dramatist, Shakespeare wrote fourteen comedies, ten tragedies and ten other historical dramas. Before the year 1600 one of his most famous comedies is dated: A Midsummer Night's Dream. -
Publication of works
the ones known as "dark comedies" and tragedies were published. Here he abandoned the ironic tinge to give way to deeper themes and get into the minds of the characters. Great examples of this aspect of his work are in Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and Macbeth. -
