Billy was 8 years old when WWII started. He tells stories of when he was younger and other children would chase him home to and from school. He used to hide in his doctors backyard when they chased him. they bullied him for being German and calling him a Nazi. -
End of WWII
Billy was a sophomore in high school when the war ended. His uncles were Nazi sympathizer meaning he helped jews escape the camps and move to different countries. -
Billy's first job
Billy started his first job filling jelly donuts at a bakery. -
High School Graduation
Billy graduates with All Scholastic honors from Woburn High School -
Billy begins his journey as an engineer
Billy starts his career as a mechanical engineer -
Marriage
Billy gets married to Joan Tracy -
College graduation
Billy graduates from Lowell Tech in Massachussetts -
Owns engineering company
Billy owns his first engineering company called Hjorth Lathe and Tool Co. in Woburn. -
Billy is a Commodore
Billy starts his role as the commodore of West Dennis Yacht Club. He then built the Junior Yacht Club which was meant for children from the ages 12-16. Then, Bill's wife Joan brought Opti's (a small one person sailboat) to the yacht club where children were able to race competitivley. -
Billy has 5 children

Moves to Cape Cod
Billy, Joan and daughters move from Woburn to Cape Cod, MA. They lived in a smaller house in West Dennis. Then, they moved into a big house called Elmwood Inn. To this day, Elmwood is where Billy and the rest of the family calls home -
Starts company
Billy starts his company, Heimlich Engineering. His company made him travel a lot. Haiti was his most frequent travel, but other than that, he has traveled almost all around the world doing mechanical engineering and focusing on leather tanning machinery. -

Billy now
Billy is 87 years old and is forever greatful for his past and for the life he is living now. He loves spending time with his family and his wife Joan and still continues his love of engineering. His stories will live on for generations to come.
