William Golding was born in Saint Columb Minor, Cornwall, England.His mother was Mildred Golding, and his father was Alex Golding -
Education
He began schooling at Brasenose College at Oxford. He went for english liturature. -
Graduation
Golding graduated from Brasenose with a Bachelor of Arts in English. He also had a Diploma in education. -
Teaching
He decided to follow his fathers footsteps and become a teacher. He taught English and Philosophy is Salisbury. Teaching would serve as inspiration for his novel "Lord of the Flies". -
Royal Navy
Golding left teaching and fought in WW1. HIs experiences there would later help him with his works of fiction. -
Back to teaching
After WW1 Golding went back to teaching. He also began writing. -
First Novel
After 21 rejections Golding was published. His first novel was "Lord of the Flies". -
Movie
After Golding retired, Peter Brook adapted the book for the movie screen. Later in 1990 "Lord of the Flies" is remade catching younger eyes. -
Nobel Prize
At the age of 73 Golding is rewarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. This is two decades after the book is adapted for the silver screen. -
Death
Golding passes away after having a heart attack in Perranarworthal, Cornwall. After his death "The Double Tongue" was published out of humor.
