    William Golding was educated at Marlborough Grammar School and then went to Brasenose College. He did Natural Sciences for his first two years and then he did English literature for his last two years. He eventually graduated in 1935.

    William Golding spent two years teaching at a Steiner school in Streatham, South London, he started teaching in 1935. Golding taught English and Philosophy. He stopped teaching in 1937
  • Military

    Military
    William Golding went to the military in 1940. He joined the Royal Navy as a Junior Officer. Golding took part in several battles in World War 2. He witnessed firsthand violence and cruelty. He eventually left the navy after the war in 1945.
