Career
William Golding spent two years teaching at a Steiner school in Streatham, South London, he started teaching in 1935. Golding taught English and Philosophy. He stopped teaching in 1937 -
Military
William Golding went to the military in 1940. He joined the Royal Navy as a Junior Officer. Golding took part in several battles in World War 2. He witnessed firsthand violence and cruelty. He eventually left the navy after the war in 1945. -
