While teaching an introductory course in 1940, Quine discovered that extant texts for philosophy students did not do justice to quantification theory or first-order predicate logic. Quine wrote this book in six weeks as an ad hoc solution to his teaching needs." (Catha, 2023) Most his time spent as a philosopher was in Harvard University.

Willard was seen as a pre-eminent philosopher of logic and etc.

In an article it stated, "He is perhaps best known for his arguments against Logical Empiricism (in particular, its use of the analytic-synthetic distinction). This argument, however, should be seen as part of a comprehensive worldview which makes no sharp distinction between philosophy and empirical science". (Hylton, 2010). Willard spoke a lot about ethics, philosophy of science, political philosophy and etc.

In article I found it stated, "His interest in science is not best described as a philosophy of science but as a set of reflections on the nature of science that is pursued with the same empirical spirit that animates scientific inquiry."(Sinclair, 2004). Willard studied science, but he didn't explain it as Philosophy of Science more toward nature of science.
