U.S. and Five Arab Allies Launch First Airstrikes in Syria
The U.S. fired a series of 29 airstrikes in Syria and Iraq, ranging from individual Islamic State units, to buildings held by the Sunni extremist group. “To defeat ISIS, we must cut off the head of the snake, which exists in Syria,” House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mike McCaul (R-Texas) said in a statement. “I support the administration’s move to conduct airstrikes against ISIS wherever it exists”
