Born
Whitney Elizabeth Hoston was born in 9th August, 1963 in Newark, New Jersey. Her parents were both African American, and she was also said to have Native American and Dutch ancestry. -
Carrer Beginning
At the age of 11, Whitney started performing as a soloist in the junior gospel choir at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, where she also learned to play the piano, and her first solo performance was in the church. -
Teenage Years
She spent some of her teenage years touring nightclubs, where her mother Cissy was performing and she would occasionally get on stage and perform with her. At the age of 14 she became a backup singer of a Michael Zager Band's single. -
Fashion Model
In 1980s, she started working as a Fashion Model after a photografer saw her singing with her mother, and she appeared on the cover of many magazines. -
First Album
Whitney signed with Arista discography in 1983, but did not begin work on her album immediately. Her debut album called "Whitney Houston" was released in 14th February, 1985. The album began to sell strongly, and Whitney continued promotion by touring nightclubs in the USA. -
First Grammy
At the 1986 Grammy Awards, she was nominated for three awards, and she won her first Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Female Performance. -
The Whitney Houston Foundation For Children
In1989, she formed The Whitney Houston Foundation For Children, a non-profit organization that has raised funds for the needs of children around the world. The organization cares for homelessness, children with cancer, and other issues of self-empowerment. -
Marriage
She met Bobby Brown at the 1989 Soul Train Music Awards. And after a three-year courtship, the two were married on18th July, 1992. -
I Will Always Love You
Then she wrote the song "I Will Always Love You" for the movie "The Bodyguard",and it became the best-selling single of all time by a female solo artist with 20 million copies sold. -
Daughter
On 4th March, 1993, Whitney gave birth to their daughter Bobbi Kristina, the couple's only child. -
Divorce
She separated from Bobby Brown in September 2006, and the divorce was finalized on 24th April, 2007. -
Death
On 11th February, 2012, she was found unconscious at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, submerged in the bathtub. The cause of death was not immediately known, but one month later the Los Angeles County coroner's office reported the cause of her death was drowning and the effects of cocaine use. -
Daughter Death
In 26th July 2015, Whitney's daughter died because of a cardiac arrest.
