Billy wants 2 redhound dogs but his family is to poor. Billy knows this however he still asks for them consantly -
Billy gets a present
Billy tries to forget about the dogs when he receives steel traps. But no matter how har he tries he can't forrget about them -
Billy comes up with a plan
Billy decides to sell fishermen vegetables and bait to save up for the dogs. -
Billy continues to save up for the dogs

Billy has it
Billy makes $50 dollars for the dogs and his grandpa orders them -
Billy recieves word
Billy gets a letter that says his dogs are in Tahlequah, 32 miles away. Billy has a ride that will leave in a week but bill can't wait any longer, he leaves by him self. -
Billy goes to town
Billy goes to town to pick up his dogs. While he is there some boys beat him up when the hurt his pup. A Marshal comes to Billy's rescue and sens billy on his way. On the way home Billy names the male dog Old Dan, and the female dog Little Ann -
Billy get his coon
Billy's grandpa teaches him how to trap a coon. Once billy catches the coon he starts teaching his dogs how to track. -
Little Ann and Old Dan tree a coon
Billy trees his first coon with the dogs. Unfortunatly the coon went in a tree that is to har to climp and super thick. it takes Billy a few days to chop the tree down. -
Ghost Coon
Billy's grandpa excepts a challenge from Ruben that Little Ann An Old Dan can catch a coon (the ghost coon) that has never been treed before. And the win the challenge but Ruben kills himself by falling on an ax. -
The hunting competition
Billy's grandpa signs Billy up for a hunting competition. Little Ann wins a small cup for the beauty competition and they win the hunting part. however Billy's granpa sprains his ankle very badly. -
The Fight
Old Dan and Little Ann fight a mountain lion, leaving Little Ann with minior cuts but Old Dan is on his death bed. -
Old Dan dies
Old Dan dies from the fight leaving Billy and Little Ann devastated. -
Little Ann dies
Little Ann loses the will to live after Old Dan dies. She won't eat or drink. after a week or so Billy finds her dead by Old Dan's grave. -
The Red Fern
Billy and his family have enough money to move. When Billy goes to see his dogs grave one last time He sees a Red Fern. Legend has it that angles plant it and where it grows... That spot is sacred.
