Distribution is the launching of a film into the competetive media market. The responsibility of the distributor is to reveal the film in a way that will make a posistive breakthrough in the film industry. The challange is starting from scratch and trying to promote the fim to the top. -
What sort of Distrubtor would be interested in my film.
Looking back at my research, there are alot of distrubtors that might be interested in my film ' Ruthless'. Out of the big six, i reckon '20th Century Fox' would most likely to be interested in a thriller like mine, simply because alot of the films they have produced are similar to mine, for example the thriller 'Taken' with a similar plot to my own. -
Is your film going to appeal to uk auidences only?
I think my film would not only be sucessful in England but worldwide as many similar mulitcultural thrillers have been succesfull in many parts of the world. Englands population as whole is exposed to many american films, as similar target audeince, and i think this suggests that our film would also be just as popular in america as in england.
Its is also quite a mainstream thrillers with no real relation or patriotism towards england itself. -
Possible marketing stratagies
In modern times there are many way of marketing a film which ensure a large enough target auidence will be exposed to its up-coming realease.
I think that because the internet play such a huge part in everyoen lives, and is especially popular with our target auidence, teenagers, the internet is a great way of creating interest. Our film could have our own site. However to get people looking up out site we would could also promote it through the typical use of posters and trailers -
Self Distribution
Realistically most small films would use the tool of self distribution. There are theatres that specialise in supporting Self distribution which show independent films, This is also beneficial because you receive 100% of the box office.
