The Cherokee tribe was forced to relocte due to gold that was found in their tribe. This continued the Trail of Tears. -

The Seminole tribe was another tribe forced out of their home, but the peacefully resisted. This caused issues between the American government and Seminole tribe. -

Mexico gives up Mexican Cession, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, California, and Nevada. This made it so that the Americans were from sea to shinning sea. -

This treaty was signed at the end of the Mexican American War, giving over land to America. This gave them more land. -

Thousands of men borrowed money and sold everything to go to California. This made the economy go up. -

75% of the male population was panning for gold. This left it up to the woment to take care of the children and support the family. -

California skipped becoming a territory and went straight to being a state because of the migration. This added another state. -
Alaska Purchase
On this day The United States bought Alaska from Russia for $7.2 million. This made the United states government have even more land, and closer to Europe just in case of a war.
