Andrew Jackosn was the first president to talk about expanding to the west. He talks about how it's a waste of space and we should be out there due to manifest destiny. -
Removal Act of 1830
The Removal act of 1830 was the relocation of over 15,000 cherokee indians in to oklohoma. This took a couple of years and they were promised 9 million dollars. They were deducted 6 million in the treaty they were forced to sign. The main reason they wanted them out is becuase they want the lands for themselves so they can hold slaves there. -
Dredd Scott
In 1847, Dredd Scott sued for his freedom on the grounds that his master brought him to a place of free land. This didn't reach a verdict until 10 years later. -

The Kansas-Nebraska Act
This was an act that took palce over wether or not slaver should happen in Kansas and Nebraska. Slavery already became prohibited in the Great Plains. The Northern half, Nebraska, left it up to popular referendum. The Southern half, Kansas, became a battle ground. Dred Scott's Verdict
10 years later after he initally sued, Dredd Scott finnaly got a verdict. The verdict was that he wasn't a citizen becuase he was black, not allowing him to sue, becuase he was a citizen of the united states, and no african shall be a citizen of the United States -
Abraham Linchol Runs For Senate
Abe Linchol begins his senate campaign. Right before this, the supreme court judge of Dred Scott released some statments stating that Africans are inferior and always will be, directly contradicting the idea of a "Free state", making it if a slave went to the north, he was steal legally bonded to his owner. Abe Linchol uses this as a basis of his campaign. -
Abe Lincholn Becomes President
Abe Lincholn becomes a Republican President in a mainly Democratic country. At the time, democrats were a lot more conservative, while republicans were more liberal. Even though he wasn't an abolitionist, this was the begging of the emancipation of African-Americans. -
Confederate States of America is Formed
The Confederate States of America is all the states south of the Mason-Dixon line that formed there own country. Abe Lincholn was against slavery, but these were slave states so they seceded from the union. Later this year, the civil war begins. -
Emancipation Proclomation
This was when the north offically allowed slavery into existance. At the time, they where still fighting the civil war, but when the union won, confederates states had slavery ended. -
Battle of Getysburg
Up to Getysburg, the north was losing the war to the south. This was the turning point of the war becuase it was the first real battle the north won. And as long as the north wins, slavery gets abolished. -
War Ends
This is when Andrew Johnson, president after Lincholn was assinated, formally declared the end of the civil war. Slavery is ablosished in the south after the war ends.
