The Oregon Country
The USA and Britain made a treaty in 1818. The USA and Britain decided to share the land meaning citizens from both countries could come and live there. USA wanted Oregon to itself. Negotiations went back and forth between the USA and Britain. Both countries didn't want to go to war about this so they made an agreement. British would get half and the USA would get the other half. Starting in 1843, wagon trains left every spring for Oregon following the Oregon Trail.
