Rome was the foundation of all governments that sprouted out in Western civilization. It was able to withstand many years and wars. -

The Roman Empire began to spread out and take over land and putting it under their government, setting the stage for many other countries and empires in the future to do the same. -

These were some of the greatest and harshest wars. These wars and battles were a true test of whether the Greek government system and empire would survive time. -

Greek wins the Greco-Persian war
Greece winning this war established its independence and state as an empire. It showed that how they ruled and lived would be nearly impossible to overcome. -

Peloponnese Wars begin
These wars, mainly between Sparta and Athens, showed that although the City-State government system Gin reece worked, it did have its problems. This showed that there has to be some order, otherwise all city-states would disagree and fight. -

Poloponessian Wars end
These wars ended with no clear winner, but with Greece knowing it needed to change something. It did, however, give hope to Greece being able to fight inside and outside, but still stand. -

Julius Caesar is assisinated
Julius Caesar's assassination was very unexpected, but it also shows the power imbalance and greed within Greece's Oligarchy style of government. It also tests Greece to see if other people could lead like Caesar was able to. -

Augustus is elected
Augustus's being elected was both very good for Rome, as he had the potential to be a great leader. But it also meant the end of the Roman Republic and start of the Roman Empire with a monarchy at the center. -

Fall of the Western Roman Empire
The fall of the Western half of the Roman Empire, showed that the monarchy-style system that Augustus and many others had established didn't work very well. Along with that, it showed other countries and civilizations that every empire falls from within at some point. -

Charlemagne crowned emperor of the Roman Empire
Charlemagne's being crowned the emperor led to many beneficial things both on the government level and on the citizen level. Although many people also didn't support Charlemagne for his relationship with the church. -

This was the beginning of many crusades, both religious and power/wealth driven, throughout Europe. This caused governments to both collapse and prosper throughout time. -

The Renaissance was major in both people beginning to change their ways, but also in changing government systems. Many Government systems changed in how they led and taught the children during this time. -

Martin Luther's Disagreement with the Church
Martin Luther disagreed with how the Church had power within the government, and how it was set up. He didn't like the hierarchy of how people with money and power could essentially buy their way into heaven and power.
