The Circle Jerks were an American hardcore punk band, formed in 1979 in Los Angeles, California. The group was founded by former Black Flag vocalist Keith Morris and Red Kross guitarist Greg Hetson. They were among the preeminent hardcore punk bands of the L.A. scene in the late 1970s.

The Circle Jerks release Group Sex on cassette
Their debut studio album, Group Sex was released as a demo on cassette tapes in mid-late 1979 and then in December 1979 on the Frontier Records label; its 14 songs totalled out at 21 minutes. It featured some songs that Morris had written while in Black Flag. Circle Jerks - Group Sex -
Dead Kennedys Disrupt Awards Show
They were invited to perform at the Bay Area Music Awards in San Francisco to major record label artists to give the event some "New Wave credibility", in the words of the organizers. Henry Rollins joins Black Flag
Henry Rollins meets Black Flag while they are on tour in Washington DC. He asks the band to play "Clocked In" at a show, they offer to let him sing. He does, they liked him. He joined the band as a roadie for the rest of the tour, learning the songs, and then became the new front man. The rest is history. -
Youth '82 Concert at the Hollywood Bowl
The Another State of Mind tour was funded by "Youth Movement '82", a concert organized by BYO at the Hollywood Palladium that — in addition to Youth Brigade — featured T.S.O.L., The Adolescents, Wasted Youth, Social Distortion and Blades. The concert was one of the largest punk shows ever held around that time, attended by more than 3,500 people.[18]
