    Birth
On the 5th of December 1901 in Würzburg, Germany, August and Annie Wecklein Heisenberg received their son Werner Karl Heisenberg.

    Breakthrough Published
Much of Werner Heisenberg's knowledge can be said to have derived from the Bohr's Institute. It was with this knowledge and drive, Heisenberg was able to formulate a method of calculating the energy levels of atomic oscillators. From this work the German scientific journal Physikalische Zeitschrift published an article named "On Quantum Mechanical Interpretation of Kinematic and Mechanical Relations."
  • Appointment, Lecturer in Theoretical Physics

    Appointment, Lecturer in Theoretical Physics
Due to his breakthrough in quantum mechanics, Heisenberg gained a great deal of recognition and famed. Along with his new found fame, he was appointed lecturer in theoretical physics at the University of Copenhagen.
  • Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle

    Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle
While at the University of Copenhagen Heisenberg was able to formulate the uncertainty principle. The uncertainty principle states "that the position and the velocity of an object cannot both be measured exactly, at the same time, even in theory. The very concepts of exact position and exact velocity together, in fact, have no meaning in nature." Below is a video to better show his principle.

  • Nobel Peace Prize

    Nobel Peace Prize
"The Nobel Prize in Physics 1932 was awarded to Werner Karl Heisenberg "for the creation of quantum mechanics, the application of which has, inter alia, led to the discovery of the allotropic forms of hydrogen."" Though he was awarded the prize in 1932, he did not receive it until 1933.
  • Death

    Death
Heisenberg ended up retiring in 1970. Shortly after his retirement, around 1973 his health became an issue. On February 1, 1976 in Munich, Germany Werner Heisenberg passed due to kidney cancer.
