Werner Heisenberg (December 5, 1901 - February 1, 1976)

  • Biography

    Biography
Born in Würzburg, Germany. Son of a professor for the University of Munich. Began his studies in physics for thar same University in the year 1920. Two years later, in 1922, he continued his studies under Max Born, Franck, and Hilbert. A year later, in 1923, he became Max Born's assistant, where they continued to research and publish their work in 1925.
  • Matrix Mechanics

    Matrix Mechanics
Along with, Pascual Jordan and Max Born, Werner Heisenberg developed a mathematical novel called "Uncertainty". A framework that provided a powerful tool for predicting atomic and subatomic phenomena, pushing away from classical physics.
  • Uncertainty Principle

    Uncertainty Principle
The Uncertainty Principle was formulated. A principle that states that it is impossible to simultaneously and precisely measure properties of a particle. In simple words, the more precisely a property is measured, the less accurate another can be known.
  • Nobel Prize

    Nobel Prize
Was awarded the Novel Prize in Physics in this year. The Prize cited specifically his creation of quantum mechanics and the discovery of the uncertainty principle. He received his prize a year later, in 1933.
  • Later Contributions

    Later Contributions
After his great achievements and discoveries, he continued to be a great contribution to nuclear physics, philosophy of science and quantum field theory. He was also part of the project of the creation of the atomic bomb during World War ll. A very known reference to Heisenberg is on the award winning TV show called "Breaking Bad". Where the main character was a chemist who took Heisenberg as an inspiration for his work.
