  • Kaiser Abdication

    Kaiser Abdication
    Due to revolts and unstable conditions in Germany the Kaiser left his position, leaving Germany in a unstable political situation, having been left without any type of leader. A new constitution was drawn up and Ebert assumed the charge as new leader.

    Treaty of Versailles
    The terms of the TOV were announced. This made germnay lose the following: 10 % of its land, all of its oversea colonies, 12.5% os its population, 16% & 48% of its iron industry. In adition its army reduced to 100.000, lost its air force and reduced its navy, condemed with war guilt and forced to pay reparations.

    The 1923 crisis began when Germany missed a reparations payment. French and Belgian troops entered the ruhr and began to take resources. This situation spiralled out of control and once again the German people were unhappy and in financial difficulty, so uprisings occurred throughout the country.

    There was a sudden flood of paper money into the economy, no goods were manufactured, so there was more money, chasing fewer goods - combined with a weak economy ruined by the war, all resulted in a major hyperinflation.
  • Stresemann Assumes

    Stresemann Assumes
    He was the councillor of germany. He was able to call off the passive resistance in the Ruhr and end the hyperinflation. He also tried to re-negotiate the reparation payments.
  • Munich Putsch

    Hitler tried to take advantage of the crisis, which was the main concern of the Weimar government by trying to start a revolution in Munich. but poor planning and misjudgement lead it to failure.
  • Dawes Plan

    This plan consisted in negotiating to receive american loans to help Germany get “back on their feet” and pay reparations and debts. In 1927 the industries had already returned to the same level of production than before the war.
  • Locarno Treaties

    This treaty ensured that german western boundaries with france and belgium remain the same.
  • Germany joins the League of Nations

    Germany joins the League of Nations
    The league finally accepted Germany in the LON to join as a permanent member which meant a great deal to germany since Germany was the aggressor of that war,and was befor not invited to participate.
  • Young Plan

    The plan consisted in increasing the time and reducing the amount of money that Germany had to pay to the Allies for reparation. Meaning that the 6600 million that was going to be payed was re-negotiated to less money in a longer period of time.
